A Notary Public protects the public by verifying a signers identity to make sure that a signature on a document is signed by the named person and they are willing to sign the document. Their identity is verified with a current, valid, government-issued picture ID (such as a Driver License or a Passport).
Types of general notarizations: Acknowledgements and Jurats.
Acknowledgements are when a signers identity is verified by the Notary Public using the clients ID and the client signs. A Jurat is where the signer swears or affirms the information in the document is true and the client also signs the document. Oak Notary only does general notarizations: Acknowledgements and Jurats. No loan signings.
